Microsoft Authenticator and number matching

Microsoft will set number matching as a mandatory authentication method when using Microsoft Authenticator. From 27 February onward, authenticatoin will require you to enter a verification number in the Microsoft Authenticator.

Number matching will further strengthen the protection provided by Multifactor Authentication by making scamming and phishing attempts more difficult.

This change does not apply to you if you use a phone call or a one-time login code as your primary authentication method for the University's Microsoft services.

University of Vaasa Outlook email transfers to Microsoft O365 cloud service

University of Vaasa moves Outlook emails to O365 cloud email service by the end year 2022. O365 offers better compatibility with other Microsoft applications. For example, Teams and Outlook calendar will work better together and mailbox capacity expands to 100 Gb.

Old mailboxes will be transferred to the new system mainly during the nights because email can not be used while transferring. After transition the devices might need reconfiguration. We will send more detailed information and instructions before the transition is being done.

The transfer of student mailboxes has begun in June. More information https://it.uwasa.fi/guides/en/student/Student+email
