Blocking the use of non-EU instant messaging applications on university computers

Instant messaging applications have been found to be significant means of malware distribution, tools for monitoring individuals, and ways to collect contact information for an organization and an individual’s network through synchronization functionality.

Room booking system Appspace

University of Vaasa staff can now use Appspace to easily book rooms and desks in Ankkuri and Torni. You can use Appspace on your mobile device, in Outlook's calendar or directly from you web browser. Please see further instructions here.

Changes to student printing

Student printing will change to use secure printing. Printing, copying and scanning will be possible in the Technobothnia and in the F351 lobby of Fabriikki. The new system will also allow students to print from their own computers. The balances of the old printing system will not be transferred to the new system, but all users will receive new balances (120€). Tritonia printing will remain unchanged and will be done through the Princh system.

MFA for HAKA logins

On Monday October 30, MFA authentication will be introduced for HAKA logins. HAKA login is used for example in Moodle and Certia services. MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) has already been used in Microsoft services and will now be extended to HAKA logins.

Grammarly deactivated

Grammarly has been deactivated for licensing, security and data protection reasons. The use of Grammarly cannot be recommended even for personal use.

It is strictly forbidden to use Grammarly to process data related to work, work assignments or research data, including scientific articles and texts.

The recommended alternative to Grammarly is the MS Editor functionality or browser extension of Word Online and new versions of Word.

How can I increase my printing quota?

You can purchase more printing credits online using online banking codes or credit cards at our webshop.

How do I log on to the computers on campus?

Type uwasa\username to the User Name field (ie. uwasa\a12345) and your password to Password field.

How to access the wireless network (eduroam)?

Choose Eduroam wireless network and log in with your username in the following format: a123456@student.uwasa.fi. 

If you are using Windows 7 or older, please download the installation package for your device from cat.eduroam.org.
